SkillsCo has been set up as an
aimhi-managed project for HIE, dealing with training and skills
development projects for the creative industries in the Highlands & Islands.
The main focus of the project is to process funding applications from a variety
of organisations and companies, including aimhi
,
Hi-Arts and the music label group, HAIL, and to manage the development and
delivery of these projects within HIE's guidelines.
Former aimhi Chair and Director of
Training, David Drysdale, has taken on the role of Project Manager and is
reporting directly to both HIE (Anne Ross) and to aimhi
(Alistair Murray and Norrie Maclaren).
SkillsCo is currently managing five training and skills
development projects and expects applications to be made for up to eight others
before the end of the year, including a training needs analysis for the various
sectors reflected in aimhi
's membership.
Additional areas of work have included the organisation
of an Industry Steering Group, which has representatives from key organisations
in the H&I as well as national organisations such as Scottish Screen,
Skillset and others. A project Advisory Group has also been established to help
with development work within SkillsCo and with the co-ordination of efforts
across the various sectors - members of the Advisory Group include
aimhi
, Hi-Arts, HAIL and UHI, together
with representation from HIE (Anne Ross and Iain Hamilton).
