ELIGIBILITY:
Places will be limited and will be aimed at two specific types of people:
Those who have broadcast ideas/proposals and who have some real experience in
the creative industries, but possibly not in television.
Those who have
experience in corporate or possibly local/cable television.
The day is NOT aimed at those who have already had programmes
commissioned.
ATTENDANCE:
To secure one of the few remaining places, registrations must be received by
Thursday, 10th June from those who are eligible. Selections will be made on the
basis of eligibility and on the basis of any ideas or proposals submitted.
THE PROGRAMME:
Please register between 0945 and 1000 on the day. The programme thereafter is
quite flexible with coffee on tap throughout the day and a buffet lunch around
1230.
The focus of the day will be on providing an insight
into the realities of selling ideas to commissioners in the present television
set up, to explain the differences between regional and network programming, the
responsibilities of different commissioners and a real insight into the
process.
Programme proposals submitted by the deadline of 10th
June will be fully considered by the various commissioners and there will be an
opportunity to pitch your idea on the day – see below. All delegates will be
supplied with a copy of the recently published report entitled, “Inside the
Commissioners”.
SUBMITTING & PITCHING PROPOSALS:
All proposals submitted will be forwarded to the relevant commissioners and
we hope to select 3-4 proposals for a live pitch on the day. These pitches would
take place as part of the day’s activities with other delegates present. The
“winning pitch” will receive £500 for development and the “runner-up” will
receive £250 for development.
Proposals should be in the form of a single page
synopsis.
THE COMMISSIONERS
The commissioners will be drawn from the main broadcasters – Scottish
Television, Grampian Television, BBC Scotland and Channel 4.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATION
Please note that delegates are responsible for their own travel and
accommodation. We have arranged a conference accommodation price of £65 per room
