Universal Music, the world’s largest music company, signed a joint venture deal with Shanghai Media Group, China’s second largest media company, to create the first Chinese super pop group. Both partners were hopeful that the collaboration might deliver music’s Holy Grail – a 100 million selling album. The record is currently held by 1970s American group, The Eagles, whose Greatest Hits album sold 28 million.
