Bafta Games Awards

Awards to recognise the best in cutting edge video games. The call for entries for the prestigious BAFTA Game Awards has started. This is the chance for the creators of the most exciting,involving and progressive gaming experiences across the world to have their work recognised with the coveted BAFTA mask.
Last year's big winner with five BAFTAs at the Game Awards was Grand Theft Auto Vice City, but this year sees the release of some of the most anticipated titles of all time, which should make for a hotly contested awards ceremony.

The BAFTA Games Awards reward those who are pushing the boundaries and bringing the media we engage with alive. Categories will range from technically based to platform and genre.

Entries can be made either through the BAFTA website or by calling BAFTA - details below.

Entries must be received no later than 1730 hours on Monday 1st November 2004.

BAFTA Games Awards categories 2004/05

Racing - the best games where the focus is on a racing experience
Sports - the best game where the main focus is a real or fictional sport, strategic or action based
Action/Adventure - the best action and/or adventure game
Online & Multiplayer - the best online and/or offline multiplayer title across any genre or platform
Children's - the best game across any platform or genre aimed at children aged 13 or under
Audio - the best overall design and creative application of sound effects, dialogue and music within an interactive videogame
Original Music - the best original music score within an interactive videogame, recognising excellence in composition, production and integration
Animation - the best animation sequence or sequences contained within a game
Technical Direction - best technical achievement recognising excellence and innovation within an interactive videogam
Art Direction - Best overall art direction in the areas of environments, animations, 3D models and character style within an interactive videogame
Handheld - best handheld game designed for physical distribution (eg, cartridge, UMB, smartcard etc) or broadband downloadd
Mobile - best mobile game designed for wireless OTA (over the air) download of less than £250k
PC - the best PC game in any genre
Gamecube - the best gamecube game in any genre
PS2 - the best PS2 game in any genre
Xbox - the best XBox game in any genre
Originality - this year's most original title across any genre or platform
Best Game - the year's best game across any genre or platform
