Edinburgh based Canongate led publishers from 25 countries to launch a high profile book series at the London International Book Fair last weekend. The book series gathers some of the world's best selling authors to rewrite their favourite myths and folktales.
The Myths begins this October with three books published simultaneously in 25 countries, and features literary stars like Chinua Achebe, Margaret Atwood, Karen Armstrong, Donna Tartt and David Grossman.
Jamie Byng of Canongate said, 'It's the biggest thing that I have ever been involved with as a publisher and it's been six years in gestation.'
Canongate was 2003's British Publisher of the Year and arguably the most successful Scottish publisher ever. It is best known for bringing out the Booker Prize winning Life of Pi by Yann Martel and publishing Highlands writer Michel Faber.
