Auditors from the Northern Periphery Program visited the aimhi office at Bonar Bridge on the 22nd August 2006 to inspect how aimhi was delivering its role as the lead partner of the prestigious EU funded Integrate to Innovate project. After a full day going through the project outputs and accounting systems, the organisation and the project were given a clean bill of health. A strong endorsement of aimhi's management of the project on innovation and networking in northern Europe came when the Northern Periphery Program's desk officer recommanded a project extension be considered, given how crucial the project can be to future strategic development in the program area.
The last I2I meeting was an aquaculture conference in Egilstadir, Iceland on the 4th May 2006. It was attended by some of the biggest names in the aquaculture industry, with the Icelandic Minister for Trade delivering the keynote speech. Scotland was represented by companies such as the biogenetics firm Integrin, winner of the 2003 Pfizer Company of the Year Award.
'That was certainly an impressive event, and one that the program commissioners will be interested to find out more about. It delivers results at a high level, and that is exactly what we want.' said an auditor who declined to be named.
There are four more I2I transnational conferences to take place by the end of 2007, focusing on issues such as youth entrepreneurship, tourism and the cultural and creative industries.
