MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival has now announced confirmed speakers for this year's three-day event. Amongst others, journalist and broadcaster Jeremy Paxman will deliver the prestigious MacTaggart Lecture at this year's festival; the inaugural Futureview Lecture will be delivered by Janus Friis (co-founder of Joost and Skype); and fresh from the success of Ugly Betty and The Office, Ben Silverman (CEO of Reveille and Executive Producer of these two award winning US shows) will be flying in to give an Edinburgh masterclass.
A diverse mix of entertainment and factual channels feature amongst the shortlist for this years Channel of the Year Awards 2007, with UKTV Gold, Sky One, BBC3, BBC4, MORE4 and ITV2 forming the non-terrestrial shortlist. All five terrestrial channels feature on the shortlist for the Terrestrial Channel of the Year award. Additional accolades including Personality of the Year will also be announced at a high profile early evening ceremony, which takes place at 6.30pm on Saturday 25 August at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre and is hosted by Lauren Laverne.
