Hi, my name is Garry and I'm a freelance designer and animator living in the Oban area. I've worked on a variety of different projects including posters, album covers, logos, promotional animations and video work for music festivals and live events.
I was trained as an animator at Duncan of Jordanstone (B-des Hons) and have developed skills using a variety of programs including Photoshop, Premiere, Painter, Final Cut Pro, Motion and others.
I've produced a promotional animated film for a charity called 'Youth Link' in Dundee, made posters for bands and events like a recent Hippy Night event. I've recently had a go at VJing at the Dunstaffnage Music Festival, mixing pre-recorded animations with time lapse sketches drawn by my friend, Jenny Soep at the event. My other main project at the moment is working on the pilot episode of an animated series called 'Bastard Cop' which mixes fast action, strong characters and surreal humour with a chaotic mixture of animation styles and techniques including stylized 2d, 3d computer, stop-motion and live action to create something a little different!
This project in particular is exciting for me because I'm working with a small group of very talented people (ie: mates from University!) and our approach to the film making process can be best described as 'organized chaos'. I don't know how well the finished piece will come out, but it'll definitely have a character all of it's own! We're hoping to have the pilot episode finished by christmas with a web site soon to follow, so keep your eyes peeled!
My main interest is in animation and multimedia, especially music videos which is where I'm currently trying to develop my business by providing a variety of services to musicians like animated logos and band pictures for use on their web sites, promotional DVDs, album covers, posters and music videos.
