The School of Sound will be running two three-week practical workshops exploring the soundtrack in fiction filmmaking, concentrating on the creation of a soundtrack for a short film, and music composition. Combining creative decision making with the technical and professional demands of contemporary screen production, using practical exercises, intensive tutoring and lectures to integrate professional post-production techniques with creative and theoretical concepts.
The workshops are aimed at directors, editors, sound editors/designers, composers, music supervisors/producers, artists - anyone who works with sound or music in the screen arts. They are specifically designed for those wishing to pursue continuing professional development.
Course 1: The Soundtrack: Sound and Editing
Course 2: The Soundtrack: Music for Image
The courses will be held full-time Monday-Saturday in August 2008 during the Edinburgh International Festival.
