aimhi training policy
The success and growth of the content creation industry in the Highlands & Islands will depend on a few key areas of focus – among them is training and skills development and aimhi has, and will continue to, prioritise training for its members and for the Highlands & Islands industry generally.
Our aim
Our aim is to escalate the take up of relevant and quality training and skills development initiatives among industry practitioners in the region, to ensure access to right training, in the right place at the right time and to match the delivery of training to the needs of individual businesses, the industry and to those who shall enter the industry in the future.
Collaboration
We shall realise our aim only by growing aimhi and by collaborating with other organisations and agencies and by assisting in the development, co-ordination and delivery of training and skills development initiatives.
aimhi Initiatives & Projects
One of the first steps will be carry out a comprehensive training needs analysis of the content creation industry in the Highlands & Islands. We have already developed a strategy for this initiative and hope to be able to report further on this by Christmas.
We are also now managing the SkillsCo initiative under the auspices of Highlands & Islands Enterprise and this has now developed into a key resource for the creative industries in terms of information, representation and access to funding.
We are working alongside Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for the audio-visual industry, to develop a Workforce Development Plan specifically related to the culture and requirements of the content creation industry in the Highlands & Islands.
We have representation on the Digital Content Forum, the Scottish Industry Skills Panel, the Highlands & Islands Creative Industries Steering Group and the SkillsCo Advisory Group.
We are also developing a range of industry strategies on training, skills development, careers and FE/HE as we start to build a strengthening relationship with our partnerships with Careers Scotland, UHIMI, Education Departments and others.
